How it works

Five steps, no surprises

  1. 01

Step 1: You call, text or walk in

Lupita or another member of the team answers in Spanish or English and asks for your name, a phone number and the worry in a sentence.

  2. 02

Step 2: A first conversation, free

Half an hour with a lawyer. Bring what you have; nothing has to be in order.

  3. 03

Step 3: A plan and a price, in writing

What we recommend, what it costs you (nothing, or a fee based on income) and what the government charges, before you agree to anything.

  4. 04

Step 4: We do the work, you stay informed

We file, answer the agency's letters and tell you what each one means in plain words.

  5. 05

    Step 5: When it ends

A decision arrives in the mail. We read it with you and explain what comes next, even when it is not the answer you hoped for.

Before the first visit

Bring what you have

A grocery bag of papers is fine. The first visit is for us to understand your situation, not for you to prove it.

Useful to have

  • Letters from immigration, in any language

  • IDs and passports, yours and your family's

  • Papers from any court or police stop

  • Dates you remember: when you arrived, when you married, when children were born

Good to know

A few things people ask here

How long does a case take?

It depends on the kind. Some renewals take a few months; family petitions can take years. At the first visit we give you the honest range.

Will I always see the same person?

Each case has one lawyer, and Lupita keeps the file. If your lawyer is away, someone else on the team knows your case.
